Which valves shall I get in my Peavey JSX???
Yo!
My jsx originally had el34s in but because of a biasing problem they've been completely ruined, almost melted onto the circuit board! I have a Marshall JCM 900 mkiii that has el34s installed so I'm looking for something else to have in the jsx. I play in a hardcore band which is very high gain stuff so i'm going to get a lot of people saying 6L6. I get it's probably a safe bet but what will having KT77s installed sound like? I've asked around and literally all i've been getting is ''it's down to preference'' which is pretty obvious. I just have no real experience with KT77s besides playing a blackstar a while ago in which they sounded quality! I've usually swayed away from 6L6 as i prefer the more british sounding high gain tone but if KT77s would not be a wise move then I wouldn't have a problem having them fitted. WHAT DO I GET Cheers |

I like Mesa 6l6 tubes. My good friend who happens to be my guitar teacher swears by them. It's all he uses. Give them a look.

Mesa doesn't make tubes. They are rebranded. JJs are a good brand. Best value for the money. You can get better tubes but you have to pay a shit ton more. Their 12AX7 will help your JSX

KT77s are basically half way between a 6L6 and an EL34. It's the midrange punch of EL34s with the low end of a 6L6.
For the JSX I wouldn't actually recommend 6L6s. They sound fan-fricken-tastic at home or when you're by yourself, but I found when playing with a band the bottom end was just too much. Give the KT77s a shot. They're kind of the best of both worlds. They're kind of that Brit sound with extra low end. |

Rip off. How can you swear by them if you don't know who they are coming from ? One set could be from X vendor and the other from Y. Looks like they changed suppliers over the years. Don't just buy them for the Mesa name.

+1 What you're saying makes no sense... How can you like the sound of something that could be different every time? You could order a pair of Mesas and they could be EHXs, order a pair the next day and they may be JJs. Try some different companies out and find one you like. Rebranding sucks.

Go with any Russian EL34.
The JSX loves 'em.
