Anyone know of anything similar to Pagan Altar or Witchfinder General? Raw with a pentatonic approach.

What? I figured it was fitting to try and sound like a pissed off Japanese person since the whole pentatonic thing is originally from the east.

Can anyone recommend me some very heavy and fast thrash bands? Kinda new to thrash, but something very similar to Slayer is what i'm looking for. I already listen to the Big 4 a lot, but I gotta say that Slayer is definitely the heaviest and fastest. I tried listening to Exodus but the vocalist's voice is annoying. I heard Kreator is good too. Any thoughts on them?

Any recommendations?

Similar to Slayer, but not limited to thrash metal because Slayer were already evolving towards death metal:

Kreator - Endless Pain
Massacra - Final Holocaust
Rigor Mortis - Rigor Mortis
Sepultura - Morbid Visions
Sodom - Obsessed by Cruelty
Vader - The Ultimate Incantation
Voivod - War and Pain

Also, if you don't like Exodus' vocals, suck it up and listen to Bonded by Blood.

Kreator definitely if you want something heavy and fast., maybe Overkill and Testament if you haven't heard them yet. Most other German thrash bands should suit you too...

^check the list above and add some more,

Destruction
Demolition Hammer
Onslaught
Death/Dark Angel

Dark Angel - Darkness Descends if speed and heaviness is your thing.

Hoodoo Man's list is pretty on point to be fair, but you could probably also try:

Sadus - Swallowed in Black
Sacrifice - Forward to Termination
Sabbat - A History of a Time to Come

....

Here's an odd little request if anyone's got the time - powerful guitar solos, leads with a real sense of weight and balls behind them.

The song that brought this to mind was Doomsword's Heathen Assault. The song builds and builds perfectly to that moment, and when the solo comes in, it's just so fucking massive sounding. Mighty.

I want more of that. Bludgeon me with leads.

I always like Grand Magus' Iron Will for the leads. But here's a few more good ones:

Ereb Altor - By Honour
Arghoslent - Incorrigible Bigotry
Dark Quarterer - War Tears
Crush - Kingdom of Kings

Those are pretty well known though, just ask if you want some more and I would have no trouble getting some more.

Testament. Chuck billy has one hell of a growl but its a clear improvement on steve souza's (or the other guy depending on the time frame of your exodus) vocals. Heavy as ****! kind of like Slayer meets Metallica. Can't go wrong with any of their releases so far but i would recommend

The New Order
Practice What you Preach
The Legacy
The Gathering

i would say you can't go wrong with any of them i haven't heard anything by them yet that isn't pretty consistent. the newer you get the deeper the growls get really.
