i dont think he will ever make a title run again by his choice.
but i think he can take some big name fights and see what happens.
i honestly think the GSP fight is closer to happening now than ever before.

andy vs shogun(brazil)
andy vs machida(brazil)
andy vs belfort(brazil)
andy vs bisping(in the UK)
andy vs cung(asia)
andy vs gsp (anywhere)

would all be big payday fights.

only he will know when he is really done.
i dont think if he comes back and losses it will effect his legacy as people are claiming.
look at chuck, he is still considered one of the all time greats by nearly every fan of the sport and he got KOd 3 times in a row.

in my opinion he will be regarded as one of the best champions off all time. 90% of his ufc career is highlight reel worthy. even in the fights where he was ****ing off he was doing crazy shit like running up sliding on his knee and punching maia in the thigh.

all of that being said i think he can still hang with anyone in the top 5.
one KO and a freak leg break shouldn't make anyone think otherwise.

I have a hard time picturing him coming back and competing with the top 5, even after a warm up fight. On the other hand, before Weidman, the only fighter that even made it look like Anderson could lose was Chael, so...

I think he's easily one of the top 3 champions of all time, and he's PROBABLY the number one out of himself, GSP, and soon to be Jones (as much as I hate to say it).

Also, why are people saying Anderson breaking his leg against Weidman is a freak injury, but Spong just had the same thing happen to him and everyone is like "kickboxing! yeah!"

the spong thing was a freak accident too.

if something happens that rarely then its a freak accident.
its not like every ones checking leg kicks and they are just snapping like crazy every day.
its a freak occurrence period.

but what i will say is everyone copies anderson.
he KOs belfort with a front kick. then everyone tries doing it and starts landing them.
he breaks his leg throwing a leg kick. spong breaks his leg throwing a leg kick.
the man is a trendsetter.

Hm.. apparently we talk to different types of people outside of this thread

Lots of the mma fans I know complained about Anderson's being a freak injury (I agree, freak injury, do not agree that it makes Weidman's win any less legitimate), and then just shrugged off Spong's injury saying "that happens in kickboxing"

Not a fan of that crap, but it's also probably true. He did give hints that training camp was a little odd leading into the Gus fight though. He did the whole training camp with no mouth piece, and his trainers were getting pissed at him.

Either way, hope we see a 100% Jones this weekend, and a 100% Jones vs an even better Gus by the end of the year. Who DOESN'T wanna see that fight again

Cormier-Hendo co-main event at 173.

RIP Hendo.

As far as I'm concerned, that's really the only chance he has! It would be amazing if he just came out and completely starched Cormier though!

Look, I give a ton of credit to Gus for bringing it to Jones. But we all know things looked a little off with Jones. His head movement looked meh, he wasn't putting combos together, he was staying in boxing range too often for too long, etc. He said post fight that he spent a lot of time on his boxing, which probably wasn't such a good idea. Lot a good that did too, cause Gus completely outboxed him. But Jones does that every fight where he tries to beat his opponent at their own game just to prove something

He also came off of a nasty toe injury like 4-5 months prior to the fight where it was basically only attached by skin. Besides, wasn't he like 6-1 or 7-1 favorite? Shit probably went to his head

I think he's gonna be really determined on Saturday, and even more determined if he faces Gus again.
