You should do some economics classes. I think politicians/or whatever you are going to be in that field, should know their economics. ![]() |

Pssh, I've taken the general intro course (which I should've skipped), Micro, Macro, Business Law and Principles of Accounting.
At one point I considered adding economics as a double major or minor but nah.

Yeah, actual economics (micro & macro) is pretty interesting.
But I'd advise anyone not planning on being an accountant to avoid accounting like the plague. Most boring and mundane subject ever.

Main reason why I chose to do earth sciences with a specialization and extra classes in economics. Above economics itself. **** marketing and accounting. |

I study physics, and I would never take a module outside of it unless there was a really interesting looking maths one, but that's basically what physics is anyway. If I'm interesting in something which isn't relevant to my degree, I can just study it in my free time. Doing Swahili or something for a semester might sound like a fun idea but I would rather become better at physics/have a wider knowledge base in my field/whatever.

As an engineer, I laugh at you. Anyway back on topic, look for what you're interested in. Philosophy is a good thing to study. It builds up your logic, which is one of the most important things you can ever do. Language is nice, but it might not be too great of an idea, since one or two classes will not be significant enough to learn a whole lot about the language. If you want to learna language, you'd be better off just traveling to the country or studying abroad there if at all possible. Economics is great too, since it's so relevant to a lot of the major problems today. History is always a good thing to know as well. Literature would be fun if you like reading, but I honestly don't think it will get you a whole lot. In the end, pick what you enjoy and don't be afraid of trying something new. Also if you want to learn something, you don't have to take a class on it to learn it. I love reading, so I can just pick up a book anytime to learn something new. There's always resources online to learn whatever you want as well. |

Performance and education are obvious complements to composition, and tbh I can't think of many others except like music business and the like. If you want to broaden your academic pursuits there is only one good reason not to, and that's time and money. Time and money spent on non-essential coursework as time and money wasted if you're trying to hurry up or are strapped. Otherwise, they're great investments in yourself and you should totally do it.
Are you not required to have a minor? I was ![]() Quote:

I know, it's really weird and makes absolutely no sense. It's unique to the music faculty too. All other faculties have to fulfill a minor or at least have the option to.

Haven't you got some kind of Honours Program out there? Here you can apply for an extracurricular program, which involves both of your wishes. Main problem is that it's extracurricular.
