Relâche Spa is written on the building and so is Convention Center.

first hit on google, looks like it might be the place, I had nothing to do with naming it

Top image is a panoramic from atop my place of employment as a pretty decent storm was rolling in. I thought the really visible line between fair weather and storm was really stark, so I got a picture.

The bottom image is another panoramic (I tried to get the same spot, but didn't get it exactly) about 3.5 hours later, once the storm had pretty much entirely passed.

^^^ (eGraham) Very nice That's crazy how big a difference there is between the storm and the nicer weather.

^^(Tempoe) I didn't realise what that was till guitargodofaus mentioned waves, but now I can tell, it's very nice. great reflections

so I've built myself a saberstrip knockoff because it sounded easier than making a softbox and here's an experiment.

still yet to work out how I want to make it mountable on my stand, but we'll get there.

^ I really love that moon picture

I don't do much car photography, but my interest in cars is going up dramatically. One of my favorites appeared in an area I was exploring, so I tried a bunch of photos. First time I actually used my new 60mm lens in a non-macro fashion and I'm really happy with how these turned out.

haven't really been out and about doing anything remarkable lately, but I've kind of been studying the light and trying to recreate things to learn. A lot of photoshops from movies so they haven't been going on my flickr:

and a lot of self portraits, which I might start uploading because why not

thanks, for now its still easier than trying to get someone to model... and getting them to do it for free... and dealing with me not knowing exactly what I'm trying to do.

but, I'll keep trying to pump out ideas for selfies.

Cool selfie pics. The Jurassic Park one made me lol

My dad sent me his old D40, which is my first DSLR. Won't have time to mess with it for a week or so, but does anybody have some good/free DSLR learning resources?

I've had better luck with books than internet resources, honestly. But to get started now, looking up articles on basic composition (rule of thirds, leading lines, etc.) will be great, and for working your camera basic exposure. Look up the exposure triangle, and just get a feel for the relationship of ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed.

tldr; google exposure triangle and composition rules.
