EDIT: Misspoke in my last post re: Braves fire sale. Apparently their "top 3 pitchers" are safe too, so I'm guessing that's Teheran, Wood, and Minor.

I don't know. I wouldn't offer any player a 13 year deal. Way too long.

Panda to Boston, Hanley Ramirez also close to a deal with the Red Sox. Both are $90M deals.

^I saw that. I'm so mad.

Actually yeah, I'm hella mad. Panda came up with the Giants and has won 3 rings with this team. He has a huge fanbase here. They've made him good offers, and haven't even negotiated with any other free agents to try to come to a deal with him. The Red Sox better be giving him one hell of a deal.

Ramirez is apparently a done deal at 4 years, $88 million with a $22 million vesting option for a fifth year.

MLBTradeRumors is saying the Giants offered 5 years, $95 million and were willing to go to $100 million if necessary. I don't see any official word on the actual contract with the Red Sox but it looks like it's 5 years and around $100 million. I guess we have to wait until the official contract is announced but I don't see why he'd turn his back on the Giants if those numbers are correct.

I guess he just didn't want to come back to SF. Doesn't make sense to me. It's a winning team and he has a massive fan base there. Maybe there was some animosity because they didn't get a deal done early in the season when he was slumping really bad. He hit around .175 the first month, and the team said they wouldn't discuss a contract until the end of the season after that.

Noooo! Tim Flannery is stepping down as the Giants 3rd base coach. He deserves a stat for most throws beaten at home plate due to fear of Flannery. He would jump and scream and run down the line with players trying to get them in. He's just worn out from all the travel.

The Giants offered him essentially the same deal he took with Boston. He said he's "looking for a new challenge" in a bigger market team. You want a challenge Panda? Lose 100 lbs.

There are also some reports that he felt disrespected by the 3 year $40 million offer the Giants made him in June when he was hitting .180.

I've always wanted one of those.

Sad about Flan Man and mad about Panda. It's all I'll say on the subject. Actually I'll say I feel a bit betrayed by Panda but it was ultimately his choice and I feel he shouldn't keep that nickname.

Braves traded Heyward and Jordan Walden to the Cardinals for Shelby Miller and Tyrell Jenkins.

I am happy and sad, grichiuk won't get to play much if Heyward is right field.

Poor grichiuk.
