I liked the first single. It was better than the last albums best track.

I've yet to listen to it. I may check it out despite the fact that I've never been big on any of these guys' full albums.

Always loved me an odd meter breakdown. Hope the new album doesn't dissappoint when I get around to buying it :P

IMO, Constellations is still their best album. R&R is a step in the right direction from Leveler, and it's certainly a more creative effort all-around. Still think some of the more memorable catchy riffing styles from their earlier albums are sacrificed on the new one in favor of branching out into new genres.

Album is pretty decent. ABR is getting close to being Alaska-era BTBAM, which will be nice when they get there. Still moving in the right direction, but not quite there yet.

WAIT, WUUT??

Apparently I need to listen to this old album... and the last one apparently. Why haven't I listened to the last one yet? I bought it the day it came out.

The impression I got from Leveler was that ABR wanted to be BTBAM but they're still too confined in that shitty metalcore niche. I mean, listening to a few songs from the new album, and stuff like Internal Cannon from Leveler, it's fairly obvious that's where they're going.

I wish they would get someone who could sing. Maybe they would just end up blending into the rest of the progressive metalcore scene, but I dunno.

I could see that, but they still reuse a lot of the same structure from their old stuff.

ABR obviously has a pretty big BTBAM influence, but they have way too much of a generic modern mainstream-ish "metalcore" sound (I mean, they're way better than most bands with that sort of sound, but still) coming out in their music. And I only listened to the last album a couple of times and only thought it was okay at best, and I'm not that familiar with their stuff overall, but iirc their older stuff was closer to sounding like the heavy parts of BTBAM's more metalcore-ish days.

I actually like the new album after not caring for much of their other stuff

Don't really get the BTBAM comparisons though...

About halfway through the album so far and it's solid, I guess. The guitars are sorta BTBAMish in parts but that's about it for that comparison. Though sometimes the guitars are all that really keep me interested in this album at all. It's nice that they're incorporating more out-of-genre elements too, but I wish they'd be less obvious about it than using orchestral strings (the vibraphone or whatever it is behind the end chorus of "Creative Captivity" is pretty damn cool though).
