Pickups for my 62 AVRI Stratocaster
Good day folks of the UG!
Recently I bought a 62 reissue Strat and sold my standard strat. I like the tone pretty much but nearly not as much as my 52 reissue Telly. It's not the telly vs strat sound, but really a preference of how the Telly pickup characteristics are compared to the strat, they both have stock reissue pickups. Note: This comparison is very relative, ofcoarse the 62 sounds awesome but I feel like it could sound even better like my telly. The Telly sounds very open and natural, the opposite of compressed and is extremely touch sensitive. The Strat is much more compressed and less open and I would love this natural sensitive sound in my strat too. Would Bare Knuckle PAT pend. 63 or Mothers Milk pickups give me what I am looking for and love about my Telly?

I've never tried those pickups. Do you want the most vintage sounding pickups you can get or do you want something a bit more modern?
Answer those two first because compressed vs open is kinda broad. At least by narrowing it down to vintage vs modern I can kinda get an idea for the tone you want.

I want low output vintage sounding pickups with the real strat sound, but without the compression
 The Telecaster has really not much gain when plugged into the 2203 but I can boost it with several pedals to get as heavy as I would ever want, thats why high output pickups are not for me, I feel like you give in to the openness and clean sound with higher output. (I've had EMGs and I have 498T 490R in my gibsons which I both HATE but already have solutions for: Mules in the LP and P90s in de SG)

strats are more compressed than teles anyway (with a softer attack, i think it's the tremolo that does that). are you sure it's not just the difference in tone between the two which you don't like? unless the stock pickups really are very hot (which i dunno).

Get some Lace Golds and you'll be in heaven. It may not be what you're looking for, but once you've got them you'll love them. Anyway, yea, strats are a bit more like that. The output of a Tele is always gonna be lower.

Lace pickups are almost exactly the opposite of what he wants. They're compressed and very smooth. I've had the Golds and Purples before, they do NOT sound like what you want, TS.
I will, however, second the idea of Lollar from Danny. My two favorite Strat pickup companies are Lollar and Fralin. Check out the Fralin Real 54's or the Lollar Blackface. Also, I haven't put the Mother's Milk in my own, but I heard them in an MIM Strat that a co-worker of mine had. I hated them, but that's just me. They sounded too ratty.
