NGD!

Didnt wanna make a thread for this, so I figured Id post this here.

Anywho, it's a 2012 Fender USA standard Tele that I bought used but in brand new condition for $700 with a case. There is only a small crack in the finish but other than that this thing looks brand spankin new!

The sound:
Ive played out of a Fender MIM telecaster since 2009 and I gotta say, it sounded very nasally and congested. This USA sounds like a breath of fresh air. The bridge pickup is phenomenal.

The construction:
In terms of the paint, I feel the mexican clear coat is better, it was much thicker and I believe it is stronger than the USA counterparts.
The action came perfect, frets are great and everything is in working order.
How does the hardware rate against the mexican version? All the hardware looks the same to me..

Overall, Ive had this guitar but a few hours and Im seriously in love. The 3 tone sunburst is amazing.

Sexy! Congrats!

The 2012 MIA Standard neck is my 2nd favorite, after the 2006 Highway One (before the Greasebucket was added).

Quick question.

I'm about to do a few upgrades to my Classic Vibe tele, one of those being replacing the 3 saddle bridge with a 6 saddle one. I'm going with a GFS bridge because I've heard enough good things to take the chance.

My only concern is the saddles not being brass like the ones on my current bridge. How much of a tone difference does that really make? I don't want to end up with something that will alter it much.

It won't make a huge difference, honestly. The reason that people tend to say that the old style brass ones sounded bright isn't exactly because of the fact that brass yields a bright sound. The brass saddles don't make as solid of a connection with the bridge itself. There's less contact area and the bridge is less massive, so it doesn't transfer as much of the vibration as full 6 saddle nickel/steel ones. Because of that, they sound weaker, and as a result 'brighter.'

Some people really dig that, especially the vintage voice crew. Personally, I like having 6 saddles simply so I can intonate properly, and angle the saddles to aid in sweeping bends. It's all preference, though.

As far as a Telecaster bridge from GFS... Bent aluminum is bent aluminum.

Tricky part comes now...finding a strap for it!

Double down on the patriotism? Find something else iconic? Ironic? Basic black?

I'm in Texas- the OBVIOUS choice would be red, green & white...for Mexico.

You're not one to make the obvious choice, though, are you?

EDIT: If I bought and mailed you one with the Wisconsin flag on it, would you use it?

Not routinely, no. But every once in a while...

I'd have to fly the Pelican of Louisiana before I did THAT!

And I already have a Fleur de Lis motif that will be popping up on my other Teleclone-to-be.
