power supply and DIY cables

two questions:

what is a good power supply without breaking the bank? And how long are the individual cables (power supply to pedal) that come with it?

Are the DIY cable kits of good quality and what would be a good one for me? I'm trying to put together my pedalboard that I just built and think that just making custom length cables may be the easiest option.

What's your budget? How many pedals are you powering and what are they?

DIY kits can be good. Lava and Mogami do good kits. Buying cable in bulk is easily the way to go though. Just buy a giant spool of cable (Monster, Planet Waves, Mogami, Lava, etc) depending on your budget and just buy a whole bunch of jacks and learn to solder them yourself. DIY kits usually don't provide enough considering the price you pay for them.

I dont have a set budget in mind, i'm just kind of buying things as I go. For pedals right now I have a total of 6, all running on 9v power supplies. I have 4 of them daisy chained with a 9v adapter and two running on batteries.

As for the cables going between them, I'm going to be running some in front of the amp and some in the effects loop. I would need two 10-15ft cables, two 1.5ft cables, and several patch cables. is it worth just buying the individual cables for all the in between stuff or should I get a kit for the patch cables and everything else going pedal to pedal?

Well if you have no budget in mind, get a Cioks DC8/10.

Again, just buy a massive spool of cable (100ft or something) and learn to solder them yourself. You can make any of the required lengths you need.

Joyo makes a decent power supply that's under 100$. I have two on my board, no failures or explosions yet.

Are the outputs isolated? If so buy a 1spot. If not look at voodoo labs pedal power, which is probably best.

Also avoid the dunlop, power brick. It is dressed up non isolated 1 spot.

I use a bbe supa charger and its treated me great, but their prices shot up in the last fsw years.

The first one they released wasn't, the newer one (JP 2) is isolated.

You could look into the Wilde(Bill Lawrence) cable & plug kit that goes for $78, thats 50ft of cable + 10 solderless plugs. Quality is also very good with these & low capacitance.

For a power supply there are many options. The trex stufff is good. I have been looking into making my own using rechargeable batteries like the ones used in laptops, but will have to track down an EE to help me with it. I have seen people make those online. Sanyo makes something similar called pedal juicer or something, but it's quite expensive.

That's awesome, I haven't heard of this. Might get one for myself.

Godlyke Power-all.

2 amps of current with a daisy chain will typically solve most power woes. If you need additional voltage, its also got voltage doubling capabilities in the Iso-Pump add on.
