I'm looking for a new song to learn! My interests are older metal, rock, blues, and a little jazz.

The songs I have learned in the past few months include

Ain't talkin bout love - Van Halen (Rhythm no solo)
One - Metallica (Rhythm and intro solo)
Welcome home - Coheed and Cambria (no solos)
All along the watch tower - Jimi Hendrix
Shelter me - Tab Benoit
The Trooper - Iron Maiden (no solo yet)
Stranglehold - Ted Nugent
What it's like - Everlast
Everlong - Foo Fighters
My Generation - The Who
Funk #49 - The James Gang

Then some jazz standards as well. Just seeing if anyone has any suggestions. I have been really focusing on trying to improve my rhythm lately, especially starting riffs on downbeats and doing 16th note runs and things like that. I'm not really interested in newer metal or hardcore, I am a fan of older metal and new wave british stuff though. Thanks yall!

Dont know which song to learn next? Need a song that is in a particular key, in a particular time signature uses a particular modal progression, is in a specific genre? Ask for them here.

To post we need to know:
* Your skill level, as in how long you've been playing.
* The criteria of the song. (For example, what genre? what modal progression? what time signature? so on)
* Other genres/songs you usually play.

And as for some general rules:
1. Dont suggest indie songs no-one has ever heard of
2. Dont suggest songs that are too hard to find. Keep in mind most people are going to want tabs.
3. Dont suggest songs you wrote yourself
4. Dont flame, only constructive posts are welcome
5. Please dont spam
6. Suggest a song that is adequate to the persons skill level. Dont suggest pagini's 25 caprices to a person just starting to shred
7. It would be nice if you explained how/why the song you suggested uses what the asker has asked for
8. Dont chew the noobs
9. Dont post vague requests with completely subjective answers.

I'll edit more rules in as we go along.

I'll start of
I'd like a song that uses a modal phrygian progression. I've been playing for 3 years, and I know an adequate amount of theory. I mostly play jazz and metal

thank you for this topic

Metallica - Fade to black has some nice acoustic AND metal guitar parts.
Also Judas Priest - the Hellion is pretty awesome.
Purple Haze is great too and there's a lot of tabulature versions here for pretty much every guitar level.
Aces High by Iron Maiden has a pretty fast and sounds impressive while being quite easy once you look into it.
And for the jazz I could recommend you Blue Bossa, Girl from Ipanema and Satin Doll - all pretty well known jazz standarts and you can create alot from them, improvise, whatever.
Good luck!

Anyone can recommend some thrash metal songs that would have real strong power chords and riffs (not too fast) - maybe something by Slayer, Metallica or Motorhead. Songs with screaming vocals are a no-go . Also something that would be available of gp format.
Recent songs
South of heaven, Seasons of the Abyss, first part of Raining blood by Slayer.
One, Nothing else matters by Metallica.
Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix.
Cocaine by Eric Clapton.
Flying whales by Gojira.

Thanks
