My 3rd finger
So I know a lot of people have problems with their 4th finger (pinky), lack of dexterity, lack of strength, accuracy etc. and they will use certain exercises to strengthen the abilities of that finger, well... I have that problem, except it's not with my pinky, it's with my ring finger (3rd finger). I'm not sure if this is common, but my pinky is quite a lot stronger and more accurate than my ring finger, especially for pull-offs. I'm wondering if you guys have any exercises that I can spend 5 or 10 minutes on everyday that will really isolate that ring finger and build strength and control for it.
Thanks in advance ![]() |

It's entirely normal. Just keep practicing, as long as you keep using it and make sure your technique is good you'll get there eventually.

Do trills with it and bends. Just play. The more you play, the stronger and more capable your fingers will become.

You might want to try some 3 note per string patterns - this will force you to use different combinations of the 3rd and 4th finger. In addition to building strength and dexterity, you'll also be learning the fingerboard!

This is very common.
Take a look at these two exercises for some really good ways to develop strength and co-ordination. If you really need to work on the 3rd finger you can always just isolate the relevant sections of the exercises - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Bka...48D6999&index=2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89IC...48D6999&index=7 |

This. I haven't been playing very long but I play every day and I have noticed improvement in strength, dexterity, and accuracy week to week. The key is to play every day. |
