Guitars are too bright. Not enough low end in the mix.

Hey guys, been away for a while but I'll post a couple of mixes I have done in the last few months:

Disturbed cover with live drums and original vocal stem:
https://soundcloud.com/charlie-munr...-paul-medlock-1

Machine Head cover with the original vocal stem:
https://soundcloud.com/charlie-munr...by-machine-head

Racer X cover:
https://soundcloud.com/charlie-munr...kong-by-racer-x

Also this one because why the hell not:

I'll do my best to get some crits in for anyone who posts.

Cheers guys.

Ah cheers glad you liked it.

I used the original drum track as a reference for the drums and what really surprised me was that they didn't appear to use a click or any kind of quantising, so I had to automate the tempo to make it fit the vocals.

The guitars I also quad tracked a combination of the rhythm and lead channel on the 6505 which I haven't done before, but I'll be playing around with it more in my next recording.

Crit this for me? In the next revision I've already gotten the horns in tune.

If you can, dial back the chorus on the guitar it sounds a little too warbly, but that's a taste thing.

Bass is great, as are vocals.

Maybe bring down the brass slightly.

Snare could use a bit more top, it sounds slightly dull.

Very nice mix and love the song as well so good job. The spread of the instruments is particularly good.

Does the singer lick his lips right after he says 'make my heart stop'? Because if so, edit that shit out!

Vocals sound a touch too loud to me, they are sitting in the mix. Maybe dial back the reverb a little bit, and drop the volume a db or two.

Agreed about the chorus on the guitar as well, it's a little bit over the top for my taste.

Disagree about the snare, it cuts pretty well to my ears.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u...ood%20Final.mp3 Updated version! Brought up the snare bottom a bit, lowered the vocals and horns, fixed that thing that Scott mentioned.
