Yeah, maybe if I try it again I will like it, but only after I've read a few other things. I feel like I need to get some experience with some books before I dive into the deep stuff.

I quite enjoyed it as well. Does anyone know whether his other stuff lives up to the hype. I've come close to buying 1Q84 a few times but I'm always reluctant these days to dive into something so large unless I know it'll be worth it.

I've not checked Murakami because I have a phobia of translations

KOTS is my favourite Murakami. I found Heart-Boiled Wonderland too openly fantastical but it was aight. After Dark is also pretty aight one

He is also the master of sex scenes

In the next second, Tengo realized that he was ejaculating. The violent spasm went on for several seconds, releasing a great deal of semen in a powerful surge. Where is my semen going? Tengo's garbled mind wondered. Ejaculating like this after school in a grade school classroom was not an appropriate thing to do. He could be in trouble if someone saw him. But this was not a grade school classroom anymore. Now he realized that he was inside Fuka-Eri, ejaculating toward her uterus. This was not something that he wanted to be doing. But he could not stop himself. Everything was happening beyond his control.

Making my way through Bob Odenkirk's A Load of Hooey, and it's the best book I've ever read. It's a series of unabridged quotes, critical book reviews, and curious speeches.

I really like this book. I don't know about discussing it since it's purely satire with what I assume is the collective wit of schizophrenics at an AAA meeting, but it certainly makes me laugh.

Has anyone told you about Gutenburg? That's a shit tonne (a little less) amount of books. At first it seems daunting but that's why somebody invented the search bar.

https://www.gutenberg.org/

Discussing books with other people is a good way to get beat up, nerd.

I'm guessing I bought the sucka's version since there are more elaborate ones floating aorund

Ooh I'd love to read this. Enjoy

Also I think my favorite Murakami is Norwegian Wood. I've been looking for 1Q84 in the library for ages but it's always on loan

I haven't read a Murakami. What is his writing like?

Also, I still haven't started The World of Yesterday by Zweig. I haven't had a lot of time to read lately, and I've been working on finishing up The Two Towers. Maybe I'll start it today.

I need to reread Lord of the Rings. There will be a summer class about nothing but Tolkien and I'm really tempted to take it. On one hand, that would be in line with most of my class. On the other, that would cost money I might not have during the summer.

My brother left behind a load of Murakami books when he moved to Tokyo. I'll definitely have to check him out.
