Say you broke a b string or any other string and you want to get it replaced.
What would you be looking for when you get a new one? Would you just say a need a b string for an electric guitar? Or are there different string types?

Also, if you broke the g b and e strings on a classical, could you use fishing line?

no you cant use fishing line.

and if buying a loose string, you would tell them what gauge strings are on the guitar.

for example, if you are using .010s on an electric.

then they should know that the B string is .013s

How do i know what gauge strings i have though

if you arent sure, take the guitar into the shop, they are measure the string with a clamp.

if you dont want to do that then pick buy a pack of 10s and replace them all.

get 9s if you think you have super lights on.
get 11s if you ever put on heavier strings.
