I shall bump this with the news that after listening to Disintegration on repeat for the last few weeks, I have deemed The Cure my favourite band, edging out the Pixies and Smashing Pumpkins.

I like The Cure, and I like their style, especially Robert Smith

Was very pleased when Robert showed up on Crystal Castle's cover of Not in Love.
But classic Cure is the best.

4:13 dream? I have it and it's good, if a little inconsistent at times. underneath the stars is fantastic along with 2 or 3 other homeruns and some good moments through the rest.

The Cure are so awesome. Though I did not like the last album at all. 4:13 Dream. Very bland. They need Roger O'Donnell back in the band. I have the Siouxsie and the Banshees dvd Nocturne with Robert Smith on guitar. Very very cool!

I love Faith and Pornography. But I also love The Top. Very weird album.

I've only got the first four albums (or rather Boys Don't Cry & the next three albums), and frankly Seventeen Seconds is my least favorite. In fact I took forever before finally listening to Faith (which I dug, btw), because I was so unimpressed with Seventeen Seconds.

That said, nothing I've heard by The Cure has ever left me all that impressed. I mean, to me, it's solid, but it's not great. I always felt like The Cure are a band that I should love, but I don't. But I do like them, and I will buy more of their albums eventually at some point in this lifetime.

The Top is heavenly but it's widely underrated

Sometimes I forget how great of a band The Cure were. And someday I'll pick up that album by The Glove because I figure it is good, right?

I did that a couple of years ago. Quite possibly my favourite album. (from any artist)

The second half of Disintegration is incredible. I feel like that album and Pornography compliment each other perfectly.

So do the band. The trilogy DVD has them playing Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers in full, and there's interviews and stuff on the disk where they talk about how the 3 albums felt like they were linked in terms of the feel of the music and the style of the music. I can't remember the tracks, but there's a track on each of the 3 albums, and I'm sure they all share a motif, or at least a variation or similar motif.
