Any good alternatives to the EMG 81+60 combo?
Are there any alternatives to those two I could use that sound similar? PReferably Dimarizio?

Why don't you just get the EMG 81/60?

85/60?
![]() What don't you like about the 81/60 set? We can't help much if your only criterion is "not the thing that I said I liked."

I just overall prefer DiMarzio. I like the sound of EMG's, but I'm not a fan of EMG.

Sorry, that was really vague DX.
Out of the pickups I've tried and heard, I like the sound of the DiMarzios better than most of the EMG pickups. Although I like the 81/60 combo, and I'm split between a few DiMarzios and the EMGs. Is there something similar that's made by Dimarzio? Also, if it helps, I mainly play some more classic and thrash metal, like Ozzy, Metallica, and some Maiden. My guitar is made out of maple, and I'm using a Peavey Vypyr. |

Well Dimarzio don't do an active pickup, so you could choose something from their range of higher output pickups. http://www.dimarzio.com/pickups/humbuckers/high-power
But really they won't sound anything like an EMG. I still don't understand why you just don't get the EMGs.

The D Activators by Dimarzio are made to sound like an active pickup, although they are passive.
You really make little sense, though. If you like the 81/60, get those. The brand should make no difference if you like the sound. If you like a specific Dimarzio pickup combo more than the 81/60, then get that. It seems to me like you're saying "I like the EMG 81/60 pickup combo, but I'm a Dimarzio fanboy and want to buy Dimarzios. What Dimarzio will sound most like the EMG's?" Follow your ears, not the brand on the box. Think about it. If you were blind and someone gave you the 81/60 combo and said "this is Dimarzio's newest pickup combo!" would you buy it? Trusting your eyes for something your ears do is a bad choice. It would be like going to a Lawyer to get your kidney removed.

I would agree. I get the feeling you like EMGs but don't want to buy them. Keep in mind EMGs are very quiet- no grounding concerns with the guitar hardware. If you hear a buzz sound that goes away when you touch anything metal on the guitar this is what I am talking about. Nothing wrong with EMGs.

watlolno The Angel is a piezo pickup. It's for coaxing close-to-acoustic tones out of a solid body guitar. It's a Magnetic/Piezo hybrid. He plays Metal. A Piezo is the last thing he needs.
