Free University Classes

I don't mean to advertise or anything, and I don't think it really is since these are free, but I was reading reddit today and on the front page of the TodayILearned/TIL subreddit there is a bunch of links for free university/college classes (atleast classes taught by university professors and such). Obviously they don't count for a real degree, but just for the knowledge. Although I think you get a certificate of completion for finishing a course. I doubt if you're taking something, say Astronomy for example, it will cover as much as your actual real world schooling does. I think it's more just to expand your knowledge on things that interest you, but you don't know much about. It's pretty cool, I think I might sign up for one or two.

Here's the site from the reddit thread.

Here's the reddit thread. Note the top comments: They give links to even more sites like this.

The Pit should all sign up for the same class and make a forum wide study group.

I've just finished the computing for data analysis course and I'm in my second week of pre-calc using it. Whilst the quality seems to vary a bit by course but so far they seem really good. The discussion forums are very active and are pretty good for talking about the material.

I'm currently actually in education, but this looks brilliant. I'll definitely be on this once I finish my degree.

Wow, this is the best thing I've seen all day and could genuinely help me. Cheers naedauuf. Something like this could really be useful for me.

I'm up for a pit study group. What would we do though? I doubt we could all agree on something, because there are some of us that would want to do something technical (including me), and others that would want to do something in humanities (definitely not me).

For the technical side, this might suit us well since many of the applications involve music: https://www.coursera.org/course/dsp
I already know a lot of the content since it's a major part of my field, but I'd still be in.

I'm down for this study group thing. The Galaxies and Cosmology course looks good, but I'm open to anything, really.

I'd urge everyone to check the other links in the reddit thread, too. There are some more classes on those sites. I found this one pretty interesting. It's probably to advanced for some (including me), but I'd give it a shot. There are people here who have experience with programming, and they'd help the rest of us, I'm sure.

That cryptography one looks really interesting and I'd be down for that, but maybe it would be a bit advanced for some people.
I'm happy to help people with programming, by the way
