Went to an IBM internship/co-op session at Uni the other day. They have positions for IT internships all over the country. I can't express in words how much I want this.

What do you think of IBMs x line becoming Lenovo?

I've heard rumors the gov't will be changing all their servers to Dell/HP because they don't want a Chinese company in their data centers.

Could just be a rumor, but I've heard a few folks mention it.

Since IBM is pushing POWER7 so hard it would depend on whether or not they convince the government to give them contracts on non-x86 servers. Could bite them in the ass in the short term but the POWER architecture looks promising for enterprise. And at the end of the day, selling blade servers was a tiny part of IBM's business.

Everything is going virtual and x86 isn't really suited for it. IBM's got their hands in everything tech but their main role right now is in Big Data and distributive computing. That's where they see the future. Their databases run on their AIX operating system, they have mainframes running hundreds of VM instances on POWER7, and they have a huge research division dedicated to tracking any and every metric. Selling servers was like selling laptops. It was small game for them.

Now, if they ever sell off their mainframes that could be a big thing. IBM mainframes are in every major financial and government organization in the world.

I can get this for $75

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-P8Z77-V-...d/dp/B007G51UV0

And this for $100, although the audio drivers are buggy, but they're including a new sound card with it.

I'm getting one of these for my brother's low end PC for $20, its an upgrade from whatever the hell Dell put in it originally.

Also looking into getting this with it too, but I don't know how much the guy wants for it.

Using Windows Movie Maker and it cuts off at 80% and my machine just turns itself off every single time. HOWEVER Alien Isolation is doing something similar. As soon as I get to a specific location in game my PC shuts itself down and I've been able to repeat this two, maybe three times.

Mother board, hard drive?

At this point it can be any number of things. But since it is happening in the exact same place every time (correct?) then it would seem to be the same thing causing the issue to both. I have no idea if it is on the software side or something messing up with your OS, but you can always try virus scans and that type of thing first before you start breaking down which hardware component it could be.

This. My mom works as a Cloud specialist for the DOJ and she always tells me about how much shit they keep on these servers. Like backups on backups on backups. If that's just her location then to imagine how much money they're making internationally is insane.

I don't see how it would be damaging. I got called C-dog for a number of years despite not being a dog. I turned out alright.
