Roses - C4C - Metalcore-ish

https://soundcloud.com/ryanantlitzmusic/roses I wrote this song my freshman year and I decided to record it for sentimental reasons. Any feedback is welcome, particularly on the mix and the vocals. It still feels a little bland but I am using it as a learning experience so I can eventually start working with other people's bands.

Side note: If you care to be brutally honest, please do I appreciate honesty more than compliments. However if you honestly think it deserves a compliment I am okay with that as well lol.

Edit: I re-uploaded it after making some changes, Apparently it has the same URL.

Update 11/18:

It's been a WHILE now, I have changed A LOT in the song. It sound's completely different. Because apparently people don't like screaming, there is also singing but I can't sing worth a damn so I made it intentionally sound like T-Pain by abusing auto tune.

Love the intro. Nice and heavy. Decent mix, but the vocals could go down a bit. Are you using a compressor on them? That usually helps. I usually run 2 different guitar tones one 100% left, and one 100% right, with the bass centered. Adding reverb to the drums can help alot as well.
The vocals seem a bit off in places, but the riffs are fitting. They definitely fit together. And I loved the "I'm gonna kick your ass". Hank Hill, I'm assuming? The piano bit was nice and laid back, and the vocal bit over the following part fit better than anything else, and really complimented the song as a whole. Overall, it has alot of potential. Work on the mix a bit, and you'll be good to go!

I loved the tones man! Your rhythm tone kicks ass. Your riffs are tight and the track has a very cool feel to it. I loved the keys, your voice really carries it there. The overall mix needs some work, specially just after the keyboard bit. Brilliant track overall!

Thanks for the criticism! There is slight compression on the vocals inside the suite I use for vocal mixing, but they definitely could benefit from an additional compressor. I have 2 guitar tones going, but it's 4 tracks, 2 are 75 left and right (with an ENGL sim), and 2 are 100 left and right (With a mesa sim). Theres a bus with slight reverb on the kick snare and toms, but it is turned down very low. I could turn it up some more and that would probably do the trick. That is Hank Hill for now, unless I get in trouble for using that sample haha.

Thank you! I do felt like theres a huge dynamic shift at the end that I could probably work on with some additional master bus compression.

I left both of you guys comments on your threads, thank you very much!

Walpurgis,
Intro is pretty cool/original. I'm not wild about the vocals (beyond the intro), but then I almost always prefer melodic singing (I don't like growling). The "I'm gonna kick your ass" cracked me up! Rhythm guitar is a little muddy. The piano was very surprising, I felt it was due for a change, but not expecting that at all. I liked the instrumental part for the most part. I am a terrible singer haha. The song originally had melodic vocals but I cut them because well they sounded bad. You have some pretty cool tracks, I left a comment on your thread.

hmm the link is broken. but anyway i have the same setup as you on the guitar tracks. there are two tracks, one with lepou le456 (engl powerball sim) and lepou lecto(messa boogie) sim. then both tracks go out through two different cabs with different mics, one panned at 100 the other at 75.

The guitars and the cymbals (and lower cymbal volume some) seem a little bit off time here and there, but not too much. I don't really favor the vocals. They honestly aren't what I would listen to. I would up the guitars (both channels) in volume. You can't hear the guitar @ 1:31 well enough to crit the playing, so make that more prominent in the mix. 2:20 made me laugh, 'cause I really didn't expect that. Sounds like a toy piano. I like when the guitars come back in, but that part doesn't kick in/end well at all. Change the transition into that next phrase, so it fits in much better. I do hear potential.
