Douglas Guitars as an upgrade?

Hi, I've been playing guitar for a little bit now and have just been practicing on a hand-me down squier strat. I have a little bit saved up, enough to get one of the $100-200 douglas guitars on RondoMusic.com. I'm wondering if a douglas would be worth the purchase and how much of an improvement it'd be.

You should spend just a little more and get one of the Douglas customs. They have a set neck (one of the things that makes a "real" Les Paul sound the way it does.)
