So I didn't get into any of the UC campuses that I've applied to but I did get accepted into CSU San Francisco and CSU Sacramento (kinda cool, Tom Hanks went here). I'm still debating on whether I should even go to college or go to the military.

I checked some stats, and something like 70% of people get 2.1s in History. So I'm either going to stand out for doing rubbish, or blend in with all the average people. Certainly regretting going to Uni that's for sure.

Should not have chosen history if you are not planning to get a specific job in it.

If you want to be a stand out student then do better?

History degree will help you get jobs, but it doesn't seem like the jobs that you want. If you're studying history for the sole reason of getting a job, you're doing it wrong.

I chose history because I have no clue what I'm doing

I have an essay to do tonight which I missed the deadline for. Now however well I do in it I just get a massive mark reduction, and I just can't motivate myself. Everyone else has gone home for Easter and I'm stuck here trying to do an all nighter ;(

It took me a long time to get used to writing essays in all my classes, but if you try you'll get the hang of it. If you aren't interested in history or writing essays, it'd probably be best to find something else. If you like history and don't mind writing essays, then suck it up and do it.

I didn't turn in an essay that was due last Thursday. This is the first time in 3 years of college that I am going to be turning in a paper late. It's all about habit, if you make it a habit to work to get your essays in on time, you'll do well.

Do you get mark deductions?

We get 10% for handing it in late + 5% for each working day after. It's not going to count for that much in the long run for my degree, but right now it seems like quite a lot since 10% is a whole grade boundary and I'm going to have to get something amazing in this essay to make up for it.

I'm not sure since i've never done it before, but I assume maybe 5 or 10 points for every day that it's late. I'm not worried about it 1) because I don't really give a shit if I don't get an A on everything since it genuinely doesn't matter and 2) because I have turned my other papers in the class in so it's no biggie.

Getting a bad grade is okay as long as it isn't a habit.

Cal State Northridge freshman here. Majoring in Film Production. Well, provisional.

I had a 3.4 GPA and a 1780 SAT score. UCLA wasn't going to accept me out of high school so I decided to stay near the industry and attend Northridge.
