The Toadies acoustic version of Tyler it's pretty badass. I'm trying to learn it on the mandolin, but I'm having a hell of a time with the instrument in general, although I can do a decent version on the banjo.

My username comes from the character in the Cormac McCarthy book Blood Merdian. Ben Nichols of Lucero wrote an album about the novel, and this song more or less, tells of Toadvine's story.

And yeah Yield, beautiful.

Did anyone here listen to this album?

Some pretty good songs on it. Some easily forgettable ones too, but he has to save his best stuff for PJ obviously.

I would, but I can't stop listening to Soundgarden . I took a little break from listening to them to find some new artists but I heard Blind Dogs recently and couldn't stop since. Doesn't help that the new album is just days away and I'm super excited.

A friend just texted me from the Eddie Vedder/Glen Hansard concert tonight. He told Eddie played piano while Glen sang. I had no idea Eddie played piano, what kind of a lame ass fan am I.

Well, he did Bugs on accordion, but it never seemed like he knew what he was doing or anything in the vids of him doing that live... I've seen a video of him doing it on organ and he seemed a little less shit at it.

Pianos are cool, could add some neat extra textures to his next solo album. Hopefully he'll take up trumpet next.

McCready isn’t using the downtime to twiddle his thumbs, though. The guitarist recently started working on “dark” new music with Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin, and he tells Spin the sound is similar to Led Zeppelin. “It’s all in its infantile stages right now,” he said of the nameless trio’s upcoming project, “but we hope to have somebody sing over it someday.” Thus far, the McCready-McKagan-Martin project have nine songs penned.

Any of you guys have local radio stations that play a Seattle at seven set.

Mine just played:

Pearl Jam - Life Wasted
Mother Love Bone - Stardog Champion

I'm guessing AIC next.

Edit - Godsmack? Musta' missed the first tune, damnit.

There isn't a Seattle specific set here, but the two main rock stations do so much Pearl Jam/Soundgarden/Alice In Chains dick riding we don't need a block for them. They play all the "less common" singles too (I Got Shit, Pretty Noose, Angry Chair) so that's pretty cool.

Some new pre-PJ Ed Ved tapes have made their way onto the internet it seems. Some solo and some Bad Radio stuff.

http://www.antiquiet.com/news/2013/...der-1989-demos/

Haven't nearly listened to it all, but I'm sure there are some gems among this batch.

Edit: And some covers.

They won't be doing much of anything until Soundagrden is done touring. Honestly though, if I had to pick one of the bands to be active, I'd go Soundgarden anytime (big surprise there).

Drummer's is busy with Soundgarden now, but they were supposedly about halfway done with a new album prior to the Soundgarden tour. Hoping for a late 2013 release. That'd be a full 4-year gap with Backspacer, a new slowpoke record...

I was kinda hoping they'd go on tour with soundgarden, but that'd be really hard on Matt. I'm stoked for the new record.

as for his stupid ukulele, I saw Eddie in Dallas in November, amazing show. really cool to hear all those songs in person.

i wish PJ would come here. People think, Oh well we went to Austin so yeah Texas is covered.
Goddammit no it isn't. Like saying Well we went to Oregon so California's covered

Oregon and California are different states. They could skip Oregon and no one would notice.
They pick the best cities in each state, you must not live in one.
Chris Cornell was in Houston last year and I bet you didn't even go.
The only thing I wanna see or hear him do is sing Pearl Jam music.
