Am I the only one that noticed you came into the one thread dedicated to discussing speed to mention something that irrelevant?

Do you guys know abot the 80's japanese guitar hero, Akira Takasaki? He's got some sick technical skill and speed. He's one of the guys who took what EVH did and took it to a whole new level. At the end of the solo in slaughterhouse, according to a tab, he plays septuplets at, give or take, 170 bpm, which is 19.8 nps and there are several songs and live solos where he hits 16-17 nps with alternate picking, legato, sweep, and tapping. He tends to be blistering all the time, actualy.

The live version of his "exploder" pretty much sums it up:

Bouh Satriani, you’re slow!
No seriously. I only enjoy only 2 artists in the first page’s list:
Michael Angelo Batio because is makes me laugh and is ridiculously serious (speed kills… what a hair, when he gets evacuated by an other guy (not discretely look the shadow!) WTF: the quad guitar!) and John Petrucci (fantastic band I just discovered – the speed is here not a sport but an art – just my opinion)
But respect to everybody… This must be after hours of training so:
"We're not worthy! We're not worthy! We're scum! We suck!"

So I was listening to the Video Jam sweeps again. I know I originally maintained that Batio is sweeping a 5-string sextuplet pattern at 16ths, but the more I listen it sounds like a 3-string pattern at 32nds...

Code:
e|-------15-19-19-15-------------15-19-19-15-------| B|----17-------------17-------17-------------17----| G|-16-------------------16-16-------------------16-|

Which, at (I think) 160bpm, only comes up to 21.33nps.

"Only".

I think I might remove it while there's any doubt, I don't really have the time to look into it now.
