It's very overrated. It would be overrated if one person liked it and tried to share it with their hipster friends. There mere fact that more than one person likes this awful album means that it's beyond overrated at this point.

Well, call it what you want, but the users on every other metal website I go on are praising the album. Just because it doesn't click with you or isnt troo kvlt enought doesn't make it bad.

...there are other here you might be able to hurl the "troo kvlt" accusation at, but not me. I'm like the least "troo kvlt" black metal reg on here. Yes I love the genre but I'm not listening to Blasphemy and Mayhem and a bunch of undergound stuff in that vein that usually gets called "troo/kvlt"--although I may be quite familiar with the underground. I'd rather listen to Gris or whatever else in that vein though.

So. It's not that it's not "troo kvlt". Hell, I like Lantlos more than some around here, so "post-black" or "hipster black" in itself is not the issue.

The issue is that it's fucking more boring than any albums I've heard since the last deafheaven record, and it has terrible, predictable songwriting.

Yeah, pretty much. The guy was an asshole, and now he can be an asshole somewhere else. Good riddance.


Anyways, onto Henbane. Because that album was awesome, and it was an absolutely majestic listen. If you haven't heard it yet, it's definitely one of the best of the year. I love the massive and foreboding riffs that make the album coupled with the sections of ambient contrast. It's great. I loved it and if it were a person I'd have my way with it.

That interests me, I'll have to check it out. Is it better than Specters? Because I felt that album needed something more to keep me through all of it.

That Cultes Des Ghoules album sounds like a horror soundtrack from the '80's. Pretty cool. It's got a lot of memorable riffs as well.
