Progressive post-hardcore (WIP)

Pretty much self-explanetory. Ive been wanting to start a prog post-hardcore power-trio for a while, but every time people say theyll join, they bail, so i end up writing the stuff all by myself

anyway, its not done, but i think it sounds pretty good so far. Tell me what you guys think

Note: turn up the reverb for the keys, lead guitar, and clean guitar

Not the kind of music I'd listen to (I'm yet to find a prog song I like), but it sounds good.

IMO you could make it a little bit heavier and remove some snare hits at the beginning (I found it unsettling). But that's your song, you do whatever you want with it. Just don't stop creating! The world always needs new stuff.

well this particular song isnt going to be that heavy. the song is about how people, no matter how civilized, tend to lose control and make poor choices when theyre horny; so im going for a more light, "sexy" feel from this, almost as if it were some kind of cheesy love-making song

and as for the wild drums, im a fan of high-energy songs, so i try to incorporate at least a little of it

Came for post-hardcore, did not get post-hardcore, in any way whatsoever.

Stop calling things post-hardcore that aren't...

Yeah I mean, you can call this whatever genre you want at the end of the day, but to say this isn't post-hardcore "in any way whatsoever" is a bold claim.

I'm going to be honest with you, I don't call music like this traditional post-hardcore either, but for most people now days the term means something far different to, I don't know, AtDI and bands like that.

No point getting bent out of shape about it.

I enjoyed it. Only suggestion I would make is I think the clean break needs some sort of snare beat.

im thinking about, for the second half of it, putting a steady 16th note beat on a closed hihat with kicks on the quarters. how does that sound?

Pawnlol,

It sounds pretty good can u plz save your tabs as GP4s instead of GP5s. I had some suggestions for drums and could not edit them properly because when you save as GP5 instead of GP4 in Tux, the drums open as a tonal instrument rather then percussion in guitar pro.

Also it may be worth cleaning up some of your notation, slides do not work in Guitar Pro 5 (idk about tux) when you have rests in between the notes.

E.G. Bar 20 - 21

Thanks

whenever i have a slide, but to no specific note, its pretty much just a slide downwards. theres not much else i can do except put an actual 0 after, but the slides in tux are dumb and that would sound awful
