lol. That's funny. I think it is not just about loudness but style and quality of voice. Some singers just don't have it and try to force it and end up hurting themselves.

This little article talks about it and actually gives 3 options: one get a vocal coach, or two, use effects or if that doesn't work, just let it go man!

^I think this article is not helpful. I mean noone has it. You're not born with distortion on your speaking voice. Anyone can learn to do it although it's tough. And anyone can learn to sing unless they have a problem with their cords or they are tone deaf.
