I think folks got their panties in a twist when they came out, and confused "Not an entirely tube preamp" with "sounds bad." I'd take an HT40 over a 6505 about any day of the week. It handles many, many more genres.

Thats fine but with my HT20 I found the voicing knob didnt effect much and it was pretty blah IMO. Might be better without the rocket but I never thought much of it

*Bought last two amps sight unseen*

And 10 guitars isn't a problem. It's only when you get to 20+

Hey im not saying that it wont work. Im just saying thats why I wont buy amps blind.

Anyway, I guess I'm joining the club

Gonna be a little project guitar for me. I'm looking to string-through it and install a proper Telecaster Jack Cup or an Electrosocket. Prolly some vintage style tuners, rounder dome knobs (/w the knurling) and string trees too 'cause why not

Just finished putting this custom Tele together...

Gift wrap for the body, custom pickguard, humbucker sized P90 neck pickup, 50s wiring. Gonna throw a custom neck on it soon.

Nice job man. So if you're doing 50s then the switch goes Bridge/Neck/Neck w/ capacitor right? How to you find the woof tone?

Sorry, its a 50s Les Paul wiring mod. Cap runs between tone pot and middle lug of volume pot. It's Bridge/Neck+Bridge/Neck (unless I'm mistaken?). The p90 neck sounds great on its own, but mid position sounds absolutely wonderful.

What do you mean by "woof tone?" Like a dog barking? Cause the guitar barks for sure.

Yeah 50s wiring means something else when you talk telecasters

I don't know why they call it a woof tone tbh. It's basically sounds like the neck pickup with all of the tone rolled off. I think it was used for pseudo bass tones.

Top is tele 50s, bottom is the more modern wiring scheme.

Ahh, I see. Yeah I didn't go for the 50s TELE wiring because the P90 already sounds darker, didn't know if that wiring would muddy it up or anything. Did a 50s Les Paul wiring solution to have more control over the treble.

Yeah my wiring looks like the bottom schematic only with no resistor and the cap running between the pots instead of just on the volume.

Was reading online that 500k pots are generally preferred with this pup combo, but I was too lazy to find a 500k pot so I just stuck with the 250k pot instead. Sounding great to me

So if I am seeing this right, Fender is making some MIM Teles with an HH pickup configuration. Has anybody played one of them?

So... anybody have any luck with cheap tele pickups? I was thinking about grabbing some from GFS just to replace the cheapo ceramics in my Tele.
