Unhappy RIP Donald Byrd

this news weighs incredibly heavy on my heart. donald byrd died this past monday at age 80.

one of the last of his generation. very sad for his family. very sad for all the musicians/listeners who loved his music. i've seen lou donaldson live and i always wanted to see byrd. maybe in another life.

an incredible player. and an amazing writer. he composed some of the most bitching hard bop tunes/records as well as funk fusion.

Really is a shame. Great player, was on the first jazz messengers album I heard and I really admire his musicianship.

Aww, man! I loved Electric Byrd so it's a shame to hear.
The Pastafarian96 says: Jyrgen and Fat Lard are unscrupulous bastards.
