Reverse Pedals

Hey guys!

Thinking about buying this pedal:
pTzINk_nVHg?t=2m53s

And the backwards feature really gets me hot.

Question, how does it work? Does it play it back as you play, or does it begin after you finish? Whats up with that?

Thanks!

Why not just say what the pedal is instead of linking a youtube video?

reverse pedals usually sample a length of music and then play that length back backwards. usually the mix knob will blend effected and uneffected signal so you get your normal signal plus the reversed signal, but most reverse settings will completely cut the normal signal when mix is 100% so that all you get is the reversed signal.

reverse effects are hard to tame unless you do the math (for bpm to milliseconds) and then figure what you need to play and when to make a riff. i have always guessed that most reversed tracking in the studio is done almost completely in post-production.

Well, if you have listened to clips on the video, then you already know how a reverse reverb works. First you play your note(s), then the wet signal is processed backwards and played on top of the dry signal. For a reverb the biggest difference you're going to notice will be the "attack" of the wet signal. It might sound a bit like a bowed string instrument.

That being said, the Cathedral is a nice reverb.

No, but if you like the clips, chances are you'll like the pedal. Time based effects such as reverb and delay don't have AS MUCH (don't get nit-picky here) of an effect on your overall tone as say, an overdrive. For a reverb, you can do worse. But you can also do better. Do you need all those features? If the answer is no, look at a Neunaber WET. If the answer is yes, spring for the Cathedral.

If you could make a pedal that played in reverse in real time, you'd probably get a Nobel prize out of it.

Think about how that would work for a minute.

Yeah, it's pretty simple. Send the signal as a laser pulse through caesium vapor, apparently.

Dat tone...
