i get the felling the S2 tops are all the USA tops that get rejected these days. those tops used to make it on USA guitars.

it's hard to sell a top like that on a $2800 guitar.

I'm really close to buy a PRS SE Mark Tremonti Custom. I went to the music store and picked up a PRS Custom 24 because it has the same neck profile. The PRS SE Mark Tremonti Custom isn't anywhere available in Holland, I might be wrong but I thought it's an UK model only. I feel disgusted that I can't play/hear it in real life, I really want to compare it with some other guitars and do a shoot out.

At least I know I like the neck profile. I already like the tone (on YT vids, I know), all the reviews are super positive. I'm really skeptical about buying guitars online, but I am really close to order this guitar from Thomann.....

So yes... I now have a fondness for PRS.

You traded that beautiful USA made CE22 for that Santana SE? Nothing wrong with the SE, but the next time you feel like making a trade like that -- please let me know. I'll be more than happy to double that offer...

Get one! The worst case scenario is you don't enjoy the tone enough to keep and you'll be able to instantly trade/sell it to get something else.

I think he meant he later traded something else to get the SE. Not the CE.

Yeah, I will most likely order it. I'm still checking out other guitars, also the whole SE serie to make sure I'll do the right thing. So far, no competitor comes really close to the SE series for me. In the previous post I mentioned the wide thin neck. I did play on two Wide Fat necks (PRS SE EG and PRS SE Singlecut) which played sweet as well and made me doubt again. Third world problems . The Thin neck felt faster tho and could be a sweet addition to my SE EG.

Btw, I love your sig!

Just got a 2002 PRS McCarty. Man, it's tight, the sustain is crazy. But the thing that stands out most to me is that the frets seem very high / defined. Great for intonation, a bit of an adjust for sliding, but I think I'm going to like it. Like the wide-fat neck. No tremolo, that's still on the bucket list.

I'm trying to figure out what the official color name is. It's a very light turquoise blue. I think it may be Glacier Blue. Is there a site that lays down all the PRS models that were made year by year, what colors, etc.?

Ken

i doubt prs could tell you what colors they did on any given year. they do a lot of limited runs of different finishes. if i a guitar gets messed up someone in the paint shop get's to pick the solid color they use for "fixing" that one.

this is glacier blue.

Yeah, those jumbo frets can make the neck feel really fast.

Can you supply the serial number for the guitar? If so, there's a good chance the color could be nailed down...

Does PRS make anything with single-coils? I already have an SE Custom 24, and I love it, but I would really like to cover the other end of the spectrum.

A few, but not many...and nothing mining the same territory as a Strat or Tele, if that's what you're thinking.

They have made strat style single coil guitars before the PRS SE EG and the PRS EG from the 90's, but you have to buy used

After having to sell my sapphire smokeburst CU24 25th anniversary to pay bills a few years ago, I will be getting another PRS. I found a NOS 25th anniversary CU24 in fire red burst, that I have on layaway until my tax return comes in. I can't wait.
