2013 is the 50th Anniversary of A Lot of Things
So, for some reason today, I was thinking about how 2013 is the 50th anniversary of 1963.
This was all spurred by seeing that this year is the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream Speech" in a bank last week. That just struck me in a really weird way. It had never felt like it was THAT long ago until now. I remember being a kid, and learning about it, and it was only 30-ish years ago. It was a long time ago, for my kid mind, but I never felt like it was an OLD event, per se. It all felt like modern history. And, it still does, but 50 years is a LONG time ago. And, I got to thinking... What else that feels relatively "modern" is actually pretty old now? "Please, Please Me" - The Beatles "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" - Bob Dylan The debut of Iron Man. The Kennedy Assassination "Dr. No" came out. I dunno, it just doesn't feel like those things those things are half a century old now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1963 Thoughts?
