Should I stick to this guitar?

Hi everyone. I recently took this guitar from my brother (who got fed up) and it is quite big. It is a dreadnought Acoustic guitar and it has a fat body with a kind of heavy sound. As a beginner should I get the slimmer ones or it just doesn't matter. I think it was a bit too much for my brother and that's why he dumped it.
One more thing: how long will it take before I become a pro.
Thanks!

1. If you can play it then stick with it unless you have lots of money - you always loose on a deal
2. 10,000 hours (approx.)
