Check out some early Tatts - that's how Aussies play slide, I'm just taking it a bit further.

This is my pub rock band. The slide's a bit buried in the mix (mic placement issue) but you can hear it.

How can it be a punk band with slide?

I guess I'm confused at the way the term "punk" has gotten loosely thrown around.

I listened to the track, sounds good. I would have just called it rock lol.

That's not the punk band, that's the pub rock band.

You can play punk on anything. It's all about attitude. Punk on slide is actually pretty cool. It's different but a good different. I aint doing no blues slide, it fast and frantic.

thanks. it sounds a bit thin to my ears in the clips, but that could just be the clips. Not that i need it or anything, but if i came across one cheap enough i might take a punt.

If it is based on a Jordan Bosstone, you can fix that "thinness" by increasing the value of the input and output caps.

Nasty and filthy with a lot of distortion. Not a clue where to start with it to be honest, I don't really know of any slide players to begin with.

I get pretty close to Wellsy's sound using a SD Quarter Pounder in the bridge of my tele. Wellsy actually used a tele with a P90 bridge pup but the QP gets me pretty close. That's using a Marshall sound of course, Wellsy used a 2203.

random GAS time:

EHX bassballs- any good? kind of want some of those envelope filter/funk type bass tones and it seems to be one of the few reasonably-priced options. Seems to work for guitar too (which'd be a bonus, I don't currently have an envelope filter so if it will work for both that'd be the thing).

EHX bass big muff- any good? Sounds pretty good to me (from clips), and I think I'd want a more over-the-top bass distortion/fuzz type of tone, since my bad monkey actually sounds pretty good on bass for lighter distortion (plus my amp can be dialled in to do those tones anyway).

EHX worm (for guitar)- any good? seems cheap, sounded good (in the clips) and I like the fact it has a bunch of effects as I don't use effects that much to justify taking up pedalboard/power supply space with them but still like to be able to get them occasionally. Any other similar options from other manufacturers? Fairly cheap (hey it's me ).

thanks

this is me so odds are i'd never get round to it, but it's nice to know it's possible.

i think it's mainly SMD but I think I remember reading that the important bits (for modding) were normal-sized components.
