A manager is basicaly in charge of the business side of being in a band. Often, band members are great at the creative side of things but havent got a clue about things like negotiating deals, so that's why bands often have managers.

Interestingly, many people think that it is part of a manager's job to get gigs for his band when this is infact an agent's job.

Narcissism seems to be the key these days.
