After I've read the whole thread (Ya! ya! I did!) I feel slightly enlightened and slithtly critical... I have also noticed that J Lock has started taking after Dr Cox 8'D
I do not believe Sunny Day Real Estate and they're likes were Emo. The fact that Emo started out hard, it would seem "off" if it then turned soft. Moss Icon and Indian Summer had hard parts (MI - Mirror, IS - Millimete), but I don't see where SDRE had such. I do believe that Sunny Day Real Estate was Emo-influenced, but I do not believe that they're Emo. The same with Dashboard. And I saw somewhere that someone said that Envy wasn't Emo, but Post-Hardcore. But they are Emo, one of the aspects being they're songstructure. I think that's all for the moment... There was some other bands that I didn't see fitted in the Emo genre, though I don't remember them :/ *sadface* I also believe that Emo is purely DIY O_O |
