If you didn't have the DLC, he wouldn't have been there.

Yeah I had no idea you could even walk out there until I looked it up, I thought it was just lake.

I also found the DLC what I did get a chance to play, harder than the vanilla game. I didn't go there till after I beat qwyn, then reloaded an alt save to right before I beat him and went to do dlc.

The DLC is tougher than the main game, but it also has easily the best boss battle in it. Made even better if you do it before killing Sif.

Started DS1 again, I never got to the Undead Parish this time, so this is an improvement!

Even tho i'm above average at DS2, i'm super bad at DS1. Though I have spent like 10x more time in DS2 than 1, so maybe I just need to play more.

Got butt****ed by those last 2 ninja/thief guys in the lower burg (the ones down the stairs by the capra demon door)
I thought i'd kill the one hiding to the left in one hit but I didn't, he parried me when I tried to hit him the second time, then as soon as I recovered the other one backstabbed me before I could roll away.
I got super rekt.

The very first time I got to that part of the game, I got rekt about 100 times. Then the Capra Demon itself rekt'd me a good 50 more times.

The thing about DS1 is that it will never be as awesome as the first time you played it. I didn't get that feeling from DS2, but maybe that's just because I had already played DS1.

Yeah man, my first DS1 playthrough (the only time I ever finished the entire game actually) was a 55 hour run over the course of one week.
Instantly became one of my favorite games ever.

Mine was like, 80 hours over the course of 3 months

I reallllly sucked when I first started though. It took me like 5 hours to get out of the Undead Asylum And there were plenty of parts that I got stuck on for like a week, dying hundreds of times.

That's mostly because a good part of why the game is so awesome is that it feels like you're walking into this unknown ruined world full of rot and decay and lingering evil where you feel woefully unprepared and nervous about what could be around the next corner. Once you know what's actually around the next corner and what the environments are like it's not going to be quite as epic as when you go through it the second time. DS2 didn't give me that feeling as strongly because a lot of the environments were honestly either not super interesting or just rehashes of DeS or DS1 areas.

I will say though that Demon's Souls gave me very much that same feeling I got while I was playing through DS1 for the first time. Despite having played through both DS1 and 2 at that point and knowing the way combat worked and whatnot that game is still scary man haha. You should check it out if you can

EDIT: Man this song gives me the same ****ing nostalgia chills I get from old Donkey Kong Country or Zelda music from SNES games I played when I was a kid. That says a lot about how much I love this game. Honestly I think it's my favorite game of all time, it made such a huge impression on me

That first playthrough... especially after a few hours and something just "clicks" and the game makes sense.... Awesome.

Only matched by the times you finally figure out the bosses for the first time, and when you discover new, hidden areas on repeat playthroughs....

What a game, I'd go and play it again but I completed it so many times that I think I'll get tired of it quite easily. Need to leave it a bit longer for it to get fresh again!

I gave up with the game for like a year or something when my friend first gave it to me, because I couldn't beat the asylum demon.

Then when I finally gave it another go ages later and started progressing, I had to make a new character because I couldn't kill S&O.

88 Hours here. 3 months sounds about right, but only because I quit for a month or two because it was too hard

Idk I didnt have a ton of deaths my first playthrough. Actually I think it was my easiest.

Tho thats probably because I disregarded rolling altogether, and my only strategy was block, counter-hit, block, counter-hit, etc. Hardest boss was 4 Kings, which still only took 4 tries.
