Which speaker for 2x12 cab ?

Hey, I'm making DIY 2x12 cab, which Eminence/Celestion speaker would You recomend ?
I play a lot of classic instrumental rock like Pink Floyd and lot of (modern)/classic metal.
- Eminence Legend 125 8
- Eminence Legend GB 12 8
- Eminence Legend v12 8
- Eminence Legend 121 8
- Celestion Seventy 80
- Celestion G 12 T

I ll add, that i need quality, not power.
PS. don't say v30 or greenbacks - can't afford them.

what exact type of metal?

i'd discount the legend 1258 (it's a vintage fendery type of tone, not what you want) and celestion 70/80 (mediocre at best).

I haven't tried the 1218, I'm not entirely sure what it is.

i haven't tried the g12t 100 but i think it's meant to be quite nice- almost like a more modern-sounding greenback.

GB12 is eminence's version of a greenback. Good for classic rock, might not be the best choice for metal (depending on what you mean by metal).

v12 would work. It's sorta like a more laid-back vintage 30, i think. though if you're not crazy about v30s...

I'd almost tell you to try (if you can) a Rocket 50. I had them in my 2x12 randall cab back in the days. Sounded okay for the price.

I was thinking mostly of GB12, they would be perfect for Floyd's but about metal that's right im not sure too.
Well, metal classic thrash, heavy etc like 80/90s Metallica mostly.
So im affraid GB12 would be a little to "bright" for that ...

V30 are too much dark/"lazy" for me.

^ yeah. you might get away with a gb12 if you're not playing anything too modern. it's your call, though. or you could get one of each (a gb12 and v12, i mean).

i've never tried them, but they're meant to be terrible. i've heard people say they're even worse than a 70/80, and any of those eminences (assuming they suit the required tone) will annihiliate a 70/80, I think.

$9.99?

that's frickin' killer I'd prefer a gb128 to a g12h30 anyway (assuming you're talking about the anniversary g12h30).

Wow.

Good job. You should be on the WTLT list if you aren't already. You'll need a member to nominate you for that.

Thanks man I apreciate that.

I just know how expensive good gear is and I'll help anyone find a good deal if I can.
