For those who like technical stuff, but still in E standard give Sylosis a try. Some parts of their songs are very difficult but there are definitely some fun riffs in there for us noobs. Fun fact: the lead vocalist/guitarist gives guitar lessons over the internet.

In response to Gutsy Smurf
How to read tab: The top line of the group is the high E String so any numbers written on it are the frets played on that string. Numbers written in vertical lines are chords, and numbers written separately are notes. I hope that helps. |

Anyway, I get a ton of views of some tabs I put up a long time ago and no comments. I would like some comments to see if I can do anything different. Maybe I'll put up some more if anyone is interested in them. The three I have up now are great for beginners who love 90's rock and were done by ear.

I think The Ocean by Led is pretty easy from a rhythm guitar stand point.
It'll help you practice hammers and some alternate picking on the main riff. It'll also teach you to have rhythmic picking in order to pull off the right sound. The black dog main riff is also a challenge for beginners. The notes aren't hard, it's the rhythm to make it sound right that is the hardest part. It also sounds really neat and is fun to play once you learn it. |

I was listening to some Melissa Etheridge music the other day and heard some really cool lead electric guitar on the CD (after doing a little research I found the guitarist to be Phil Sayce.) by Phil Sayce, he does a metal intro to "O Night Devine." Actually Mr. Sayce starts about 1:20 into the song, he has about a 1.5 to 2.0 minute part then Melissa takes over with vocal. I was wondering if anyone else has heard this and if anyone had been able to write down the Tabs for his guitar part. I can get parts of it but just haven't been able to get through it all. I'm an intermediate player, I've been asked to join a small band but heck I'm already 70 and just enjoy pickin' the guitar on the patio with my boys and some of the neighbors.
Thanks, FrankM |
