question about being rhythm guitar player in a band
When playing rhythm guitarist in a band, does the treble of the guitar have to be lower than the lead guitar players position?

No, you EQ to whatever you want to gat the sound you need/want.

One thing that helps a lot is to limit how much you cross over pitch ranges with the other instruments.
This is most important when you have two guitars both doing chords. Say the chord is an A. The bottom guitar might play A E A C# in open position or in the E form barre chord, and the other guitar would play A C# E on the 12th-14th fret top 3 strings. This isn't a strict rule to follow, just a guideline to avoid muddy sound quality.
