Not really, just a PITA. The board itself burns out, you just hardwire actual wire across it. But you may be able to google up which ones were actually dodgey - that one may be ok.

I want to get a Ernie Ball VP Jr to run in my FX loop to do volume swells without altering the gain. Would I need the active (25k) or passive (250K) model since the Line level signal coming from my Insert Loop out is low impedance?

EDIT: Nevermind, found my answer. 25k.

Someone is selling yamaha pacifica for 60$ but it has been out of case and higher strings have been missing since last few years. Is it safe to buy it and get it set up or should I pass ?

^ go trying it.

If you can't, then I'll pass - there's just too many things that could go wrong.

^^ I sold my Pacifica for like $35. You probably won't be able to resell it, but you could probably use it after a set up.

I know that most time-related pedals should go into an effects loop of an amp, but should a phaser or flanger go in the loop as well?
Example MXR Phase 90 and TC-Electronic Vortex. I haven't been able to identify a positive or negative side yet.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?

It's a matter of preference.

I have mostly seen them before the pre, but YMMV.

I'm reading up on stuff right now but what's y'alls opinion on this...just wondering if it's even possible to do.

My two main Tele-style guitars I'm using nowadays being my LTD and Fender FMT...here's the deal, I like the smoothness of the hipshot on the LTD and I'd like to have one on the Fender. If I didn't play as aggresively as I do with the band the Fender bridge wouldn't bother me as much but the screws in the saddle are tearing my palm up. Would a hipshot be worth putting on the Fender or would it be too much to hassle with? The Fender hardtail has 4 mounting holes on each corner and the hipshot has the 3 in the middle...meaning new holes in the guitar and (hopefully) the hipshot covering up the existing. Is this an idea I should pursue or just let go?

I like to fuq with things but only when there's no chance of fuqing them up.

Too much of a hassle to make new holes, and if you have to ask if it's doable you're likely not gonna be able to do it properly.

Either keep your bridge or find one with the proper set of holes.

What is it that doesn't satisfy you in the ESP that makes you use the fender even with a bridge that hurts your hands?

It's not that I don't like the ESP. I use it most of the time anyway. Just shooting around ideas to improve the Fender.

I'm looking at buying a new amp head (my first actually, after years of using just combos). I'm looking at the Orange Crush Pro CR120h and Peavey ValveKing II 100W.

Can anyone give me any pointers on which to go for or pros and cons of both?

My buddy just got the CR120h. Personally I think it lives up to the hype around it. I was impressed. It probably has the best solid state distortion I've heard...good clean channel on it too. I don't think you can run it at 4 ohms though. It was somewhat confusing figuring that out with just the way they have their speaker outs labeled. The cab has to run at either 8 or 16. He'll be playing a gig with it tomorrow night so we'll see how well it performs.

Both should be good amps to get in to however.

+1

Some people prefer modulation before the preamp, some after.

can you get different-sized screws?

Are you sure Hipshot don't make a 4 hole version?
