Hello everyone!


I bought a Shadow Kill Pot to use it as a volume knob / killswitch on my Schecter Demon 6 string guitar. After buying this thing I've noticed that the installation is harder than it seemed. The wiring instructions from the Shadow website are too hard to understand and I couldn't find the original wiring diagram for my guitar either.


Here's a pic of the guitar wiring for the guitar as it is now:








The grey wire comes from the output jack, green comes from tone and red from the toggle switch.

If anyone of you have done this to a similar guitar, please help me! I would need to know what wire (color) goes to which place on the Kill Pot!

There are 2 lugs are the bottom of the killpot. You should ground one of them, and attach the hot lead(right before it goes to the output jack) to the other. You keep even just solder a jumper wire from the output jack hot lug to the killpot hot lug(which is whatever lug isn't grounded).

It's actually very simple, as long as you copy your current wiring configuration and just add that.

The main questions:
1. whether the correct colors go to their correct spots
2. should I ground all of the wires to which of those "(a)" ground spots '
3. is it necessary to connect those ground spots to each other (a to a, like in the original wiring)?

I'm a beginner with this stuff so I'm sorry if these questions are easy.

The biggest problem in understanding the instructions for the kill pot is the varying wiring on every guitar. In my case I have toggle and tone going to the same place.

That looks mostly correct, but if memory serves me well, you have lugs E and F mixed up. The signal typically comes in on the outside lug of the volume pot, and out from the middle lug. It will word either way, but I think the rotation might be backwards with the way you have it.

And to answer your other questions, it doesn't really matter how you do the grounds, as long as they are in some way connected to the ground on the output jack. The most common method is the connect the pot casings to the output, and then just attach all grounds to whichever pot casing is easiest.

Since this is a really relevant question, I am gonna hijack this!

Is the kill-switch on this amalgamation of pot and switch universal?


Or do I have to install 2 of them if I have a guitar with 2 volumes?

Can it kill the signal regardless of the position selected?

Does it have to be wired accordingly in order to do so?

Think of it this way, it's just like any other pot, except it has a momentary 2-position switch added. It's essentially the same thing as having a regular pot and a separate switch.
