I didn't realise it's legal now to say 'Sabbath is gay'

No Bill Ward. Didn't even ask Appice. Mixing sucks balls. Iommi sounds stale (never thought I'd say that - he sounded fresh for the Dio Years new tracks + The Devil You Know).

I still faithfully roll with CDs of Master of Reality, Vol 4., SBS, Sabotage, and Never Say Die in my car for my Ozzy-Sab selection.

Gather around, boys and... well, boys, for an ol' fashioned tale:

A good decade ago, when at last cassette tape players were being scrapped from cars, I came by a Craigslist ad offering ~100 rock and metal tapes (mostly copies, some originals) from the 70s and 80s... for free. He wanted them to go to a good home. F**k if I could refuse an offer like that. Went to the guy's place - he looked exactly like Patrick Swayze, no kidding. Sweet mullet and everything, tucked shirt with jeans, still reliving the 80s. We chatted for a bit and he handed me his collection of tapes. I've been listening to them on and off ever since. Many golden gems and bootlegs - a treat by any measure.

This week, I found out that there was Black Sabbath's Seventh Star on one tape. Was very excited to find that out. What do we find on the B side? Born Again.

Naw, it's Glenn Hughes - you can hear more nasaliness in the voice. Still a great voice though. I'm a fan of the Iommi solo album Fused w/ Hughes. The first track, Dopamine, is kickass.

p.s. Seventh Star contains Sabbath's cheesiest song: No Stranger To Love.

That's pretty cool your mum digs the Sabs. My folks have gained quite the ear for metal over the years as a result of my playing all kinds of stuff. My dad said "this is some really.. uhh.. interesting music" when I was playing Ruins of Beverast's Rain Upon the Impure pretty loudly some while back. He agreed on the melodic aspect of it, despite it being 'scary.'

Back to the Sabbath world, the whole family likes the Heaven and Hell album. Dad's particularly keen on the title track. I guess all old timers are bound to love the verses in that song.

if anyone has not seen this beautiful old footy of Killing Yourself to Live (one of my favorites of all time):

Jeez, they were so... Colorful! I always picture them in mind like denim & leather, but those silver pants Geezer is rocking are... Interesting to say the least

Also... No mustache! There's a rare sight!

In the '70s, there really wasn't a "wear black" rule or whatever for metal bands. lol

I know, it's more a mental image thing & somehow, most images I see of Sabbath are b&w, or for like, the '78 tour when Tony was in all black leather, Ozzy in his white leather with fringes on the arms and Geezer in denim

I saw a video from the live jam in California from 74...Sabbath is really a bunch of hippies. Early records are always great fun though. Classics.

And yeah, she named one of our cats Prince Sabbath. He's probably the truest friend I have on this planet.
