how to remove the wound from the string?

Hi, I have a problem.. I'm using a 7 string guitar and I wanted to use a .70 string, but it is too thick, it doesn't fit into the tuner. I've heard that I can remove the wound from the string, so it can go though the tuning peg. How do I do it? I've used pliers, but it didn't do anything. I don't want to drill the tuning peg.

Anybody?

Go to a hardware store and tell them you need dril bilt for a .7"hole. get the one they have (it may be a little bigger, but not much). Then reem the tuner hole out with the bit.

Your string now fits just fine.

Get a tapered string? I know there's a 72 gauge with a taper in the EB 8 string set, but not of anything else.

He DOESN'T want to drill the peg.

I'd say get tapered strings, but I don't know where to find good ones as I've never had this problem.

The string is tapered, but not as well as I'd like.

Why are you against drilling the tuning peg?

Seriously. Drilling is your easiest method. As long as you use the right size drill, it's pretty safe.

Yep it is. Then you arent tryiong to unwind a string or worry about finding special strings.

It's nonsense, I'll destroy the structure of the tuning peg. I have locking tuners.

It will work just fine, you are only making the hole a little bigger. you could always get a tuner with a larger opening.

I do Tech work for many people in my area, I have used this method on many guitars with diffrent types of tuners locking and non-locking. It is the best solution besides buying new tuners.

Yea... You'll be fine. If you don't wanna drill, buy another peg.
