Ya know something... Risk really ain't that bad. It's not heavy thrashy Deth but it's 'fun'. I much prefer it to Thirteen and Super Collider.

Hey guys, guitar question. When you play Holy Wars what picking method do you use for the main riff? When you hit E 6 times then hammeron from D to E on A how do you pick that part? The 6th note on E is an up stroke alternate picking then hitting the hammeron just seems weird, it throws off the rhythm of the song. Does Mustaine down pick the whole thing like Metallica loves to do? I've played the riff a million times and can't get it to feel quite right, I can play Malmsteen sweep picking easier than Holy Wars.

but it's not triplets those 6 notes, it has like a machine gun esque chugging quality to it, which I can do, but then hitting the d right after feels awkward. For some reason this riff is one of the hardest things I've ever tried to play, it's amazing how having dynamic picking rhythms makes a song way harder than anything else.

I just alternate pick it and downpick the D. It might take some practice to nail it, but that's how one would generally play a riff like that.

Just finishing Mustaine's autobiography...I had it for a year but just got around to reading it now....pretty good stuff although he seems to run way too fast through the late 80s/early 90s stuff - I can understand that he wants a bigger target audience and not just metalheads like us, but a more detailed writeup on how some of his best recordings were made - the process and work that went into it - would have been great.

He is pretty honest with regards to other musicians and his part in what went on in those days (as well as his mistakes/shortcomings), while still managing to shit upon most of those ex band members ...typical Dave

I think a lot of his condemnations are tongue in cheek. His bass player quit, sued him and Dave forgave him and let him back in the band. He has a gruff demeanor but he's a decent guy beneath the surface.

So Drover and Broderick are out of the band like many before them. Iv'e honestly had no complaints with Shawn Drover as the drummer but I gotta be honest was never the biggest fan of Chris. His skill is amazing but I never felt a strong musical connection.

Anyway's who did you think will realistically fill in these spots. We would all like Menza to take the kit and ether Poland or Friedman to take the lead spot but what will actually happen?

We know Menza has had his problems with drugs and Dave and failed to rejoin the band a few years ago, so I'm not sure how things could change but we do know that him and Polland have been working on a project together.

Chris Poland seems somewhat possible to me. Dave had tried to get him back in the band not too long ago and even got him to track solos on The System has Failed it seem's that they are on good terms. The only problem was that Chris didn't want back in but with him and Menza working on a project together maybe he is ready to make a return. A project and a full blown dedication to Megadeth is a big difference but I think this could happen.

As for Friedman I just don't see it happening. I don't think he has interest in rejoining and I doubt that if he did him and Dave could come to an agreement.

Jeff Young would be a big no.

Chuck Behler? Who knows I don't even know if the guy still plays. It does say on his Wiki page that he attends Megadeth concerts when they are in the Detroit area.

They should get someone unknown that can play like Marty used to, melodies that follow the chords but also have intonation and modulation. Brodericks tone was very monotone and made for boring solos.

Has Marty Friedman's website description on Google always listed has 'Official site of the lead guitarist in Megadeth'? Maybe its just wishful thinking.

Drover out too? He was an unassuming guy and also a good drummer IMO. Broderick, yeah he never clicked with me either (too much shredding and not much emotion + a bad tone!)
Poland would be a huge improvement if he wants to come back, else we might see another MegaDave incarnation with hired guns.
