It might not be a good way to learn from scratch, but its a great way to get yourself to practice. Makes practicing for a couple of hours a real pleasure.
Just my opinion of course

I would agree with this. I dont think it can hurt you as a player to use Rocksmith to aid the learning process. Rocksmith has helped me move around the fretboard much easier and the fact its always pushing you is great.

The guitarcade mini-games are brilliant too.

This was a problem I had, too. And while I haven't done so yet, my son has promised to show me how I can just work on whatever song I want to. There are different modes & ways to progress through the game (still getting to play venues, etc.)

I find the easiest solution is to just play the song. If you do play it well enough you will only need to play those songs twice at most.

I think that we should be directing this gentleman to a good alternative.

www.justinguitar.com

This site gives you a video by video guide on what to learn. Its setup in stages so you'll learn in a way that won't be daunting. And best of all, it's free! Although if you use it a lot I'd donate as I think the guy is quite cool for allowing us to use his site.

Of course, the best method is to get a teacher. After 20 years of playing I found myself in a bit of a rut. I found a teacher and I feel like I'm progressing massively.

Anyway, good luck!

First "breed" review:
At the start, it's realy borring for anyone who has a little experience... you can't realy put it in "hard" mode without playing a while. The games addapts itselft to what you are playing, but it doesn't "fail" if you hit "more notes", so you can still play the whole song even if there's no "points" on the notes.

As for the "hardware", on my PC I have a setup for a Line 6 UX-2 and studio monitors, it never lags when I play with PodFarm but, with the Real Tone Cable, I get a little lag... Not much, but just enough to annoy... You can still play the game easely tough, but going in "amp mode" is realy annoying!

I've read that it's better to use the internal sound card, so I'll try it tonight and let you know (if anyone here wants to)

As for the songs, at the begining, there's not much challenge, but I've seen some realy interesting stuff in the download:
Avenged Sevenfold
Megadeath
Lamb of God

it's also realy fun for someone without a band to play with "the reste of a band" and have a better feel of fallowing a band, keeping tempo and stuff like this.

So, overall, I don't think it's a "tool" to learn guitar, but rather a fun way to play.

Fun game to enjoy. Especially those mini games.
As a tool to teach beginner? No, so many online free lesson out there and the game doesn't teach you notation and stuff.

By the way, getting an extra cable in order to play split screen multiplayer is expensive

Didn't even know you COULD do multiplayer. Wow!

Do you know if you can do bass & guitar or is it just 2 of the same?
