Solid choice, do have fun with building and especially using the thing!

How much did you get it for?
Did it include all the components as well?

You should read the introduction to recording sticky.

The PCB + components (including the sidechain mod!) cost me about $330. Still need to order the chassis, though, that should be another $175ish give or take. I may replace the electrolytics (no-names, Aishis I think) with Nichicons.

Tempted to upgrade. Only $150 from Studio One 2 Pro to 3 Pro

Hmmm... I'll have to check it out! Though I didn't even pay that much for Pro 1 and 2 combined

Well knowing DAW's they'll do a sale at some point. Apparently they're going for a "composition friendly" angle with the new version.

If it's anything like logic x's songwriting tools or however they decided to call them, count me out.

Logic 9 had the best midi editor I could find, but x's really let me down.
Still tho x has a lot of advantages, so now I use each one half of the time...

Anyway, let's wait and hope it's interesting.

This place sure is quiet these days. My band just have vocals and lead guitar left to record of our new album, I'm mixing it and handled some of the tracking (can't do drums or proper vocals at home) and considering documenting a lot of the process - I was gonna before but things happened at the time that put me off finishing it - would anybody actually be interested in reading a write up of the whole thing?

I'll get to it then, might not be as in-depth as the other one started (going on about pre-production and everything) but I'll put everything I remember in etc. Will probably be more like a series of chatty posts than a guide, too, because I don't have the time to make a proper fancy write-up

Sounds cool!

So... I just finished tracking samples for 10 snare drums. Started out as a project for me to decide what to downsize to. After beating on them all in a performance, i ddcided that wasnt a really fair comparison, so I decided to go the more scientific route...

All 10 drums with bottom head tuned to 380Hz and the fundamental pitch of the top/bottom combo ranging from 170Hz in 10Hz increments up to 230 (on most, some wouldn't go that high). Sample 10 hard hits and 16 cross stick, plus a small solo performance at each pitch.

Definitely had some interesting results...

I own some snares that are upwards of $6-700 new and many of the expensive ones are at the bottom of my list for tone, being beat out by some that cost less than $100!

Still gotta cut up the hits but I'll be sure to share results and you're all welcome to the raw wav files.
