peavey AT-200 w/antares autotune

whoa. my issue here is that it is 100% digital. so is the guitar really in tune? i dont know how i feel about that.

all i know is the part about alternate tunings is amazing. that is crazy flexibility. that i would like to have.

but can you change pickups? can you change anything? does it affect the tone of the actual instrument with all this digital stuff?

so technically it can change dynamics and technique....but it also allows you to adjust string tension any way you want as the tuning is now digital. that is also very interesting.

its a tradeoff. i can see a gigging musician using this to play virtually any type of music, but a guy who wants all the soul and juicy playing to come out is going to want a standard guitar and have his dynamics unaffected.

When it started, I thought it sounded very good, but when he compared the E chord everywhere on the neck, I started hearing it glitch around, and now I can't unhear it. It's pretty awesome, but I'll wait for it to be perfected some more before actually getting it.

For me the most interesting part is perfect intonation. I don't know if this makes for the greatest guitar ever, however, for a studio recording, being perfectly in tune across the entire neck for harmony parts etc. is an excellent feature. The battery life and "glitchiness" seems like it would be too much of a concern for "casual" play or live use.

true. i still cant get over the fact that your strings can be de-tuned but the electronics keep pitch....essentially meaning its entirely digital.

cool yes, but how in tact is your tone at that point? the next step is no strings at all.

^ yeah I know

I don't like this. the idea of my guitar being like this mind**** virtual tuning machine doesn't do much for me.

The only thing I like about it is that you can effectively make a bass by setting it to tune while barring the 24th fret, other than that, you might as well just go midi and save yourself some frustration with this system. Even though I still have absolutely no clow as to what midi is, how to work it, or how it interacts with different programs
