New pickups - SH-6 and SH-2?

So, i have some cash left from my vacation fund, and just found the Seymour Duncan sh-6 and sh-2 for sale for only 100€, and im wondering if its worth it?

I play in a modern metal band, kinda blending thrash and metalcore or whatever. I have an Ibanez SZ320 with the original pickups and i play it trough a Jet City JCA50 head trough an ibanez cab (dunno which one, since i bought it used).

Now the pickups on the guitar are "Duncan designd" and i THINK that they are based on the SH.4 and the '59, but im really not sure, since i cant find the info anywhere. They are still ibanez pickups tho. So yeah, im just wondering if its worth to buy those, or if i should save up for EMGs or whatever. For some reason im not a fan of active pickups, altough i have no idea why...

if you are not a fan of actives then dont get emgs.... simple as.

As for the SH-6 and SH-2 Combo. I have it in my 6 string and they work really well together.

the SH-6 will have terrible cleans though. but the SH-2 more than makes up for it.

Great combo for metal.

and for 100 euro then go for it

Ive never been a fan of actives, i find them too compressed and too sterile/cold.

The SH-6 will give you a high enough output to drive tubes pretty hard.

the other option you could look into is an overdrive of sorts. Gain on min Level on max and tone to taste. should give your amp a good kick and tighten the sound up a lot.

Oh, i guess i should mention the pedals i have. I use a Bad Monkey overdrive to push the gain a bit for leads, and i use the overdrive channel itself for rhythm playing. Also a hardwire delay and a crybaby wah, but i dont think that really matters

ok, if you are roughly happy with the amount of gain you are getting and just want more clarity then upgrade the pups.

The SH-6 will give you a slight gain increase but not a huge amount. However they are quite bright so bare that in mind.

Try playing your Jet City through a better cab, I played my Marshall through one once at a rehearsal place & it sounded like mud, with an extra helping of mud on top!!!

should work, yeah

also a better cab/better speakers will likely help, too.

Stock pickups in ibanez are awful, that'd be a great combo for your setup, go for it.

I'd try a different cab, something with V30's. Works wonders with my JCA50.
Even makes my PRS SE pickups in my frankenstrat pack a punch.

I have that set in my RG520. I don't like them all that much. But they'll do what you want perfectly fine.

Pickups are all about fine tuning and nuances. Subtle flavor.

And yeah, you need a new cab.
