Bands of the old school will belong here for obvious reasons and the rest of the newer ones will depend, but don't expect to get a warm reception posting a band that sounds like Killswitch or Trivium in the metal forum. I doubt it matters to anyone at this point, though.

idk, is metalcore still a thing? didn't think it would even be an issue anymore.

I thought everything new is either heavy on the deathcore side (so is metal) or gone to the grind side (so is hardcore)

I would say, for example killswitch or trivium is metal forum. seems wrong to have it here considering their influences at least, are more metal than hardcore.

doubt anyone in metal actually cares that much though.

Yeah, no one gives a shit about it anymore. There's not really a fanbase on this forum for that music anyway so I highly doubt threads for modern metalcore bands will be a thing.

I like Trivium and Killswitch... Might as well add August Burns Red, In Fear and Faith, It Dies Today, From Autumn to Ashes, The Devil Wears Prada, Bring Me the Horizion, etc...

I also like Converge, Misery Signals, Orchid, Cave In, Counterparts, Shai Hulud, Vestiges, The Dillinger Escape Plan, etc...

I just happen to know that the top list really belongs in the metal forum and the bottom list belongs in the hardcore forum. I might be a categorization nazi but it doesn't stop me enjoying the bands that got me into more extreme types of metal and subsequently hardcore.

Are ya gonna make threads about those bands in the metal forum and talk about their latest releases? It's fine to talk about where these bands belong but if you make a thread you'll get feedback from the community and then you'll know whether much discussion will happen in that thread/sub-forum for the band.

Alternatively, and this is what I'd suggest, you could make threads for new up and coming bands and share them with the community or try a topic that'll get people involved(like the metal analysis thread, the your move series of threads, and so on in the metal forum).

I don't plan on making any threads regarding them I learned my less a while back. Now I am just going to enjoy the bands while categorizing the hell out of them.
